Well, of course, Karl Rove announced this morning that he's resigning his post effective at the end of the month. It's been noted around the internet how humorous his choice of timing is to "spend more time with his family" - now that his son is leaving home to start college more or less as we speak.
...I've been asked to write up a little "book report" about Rove - who the hell is he, really?; what's it supposed to mean that he's leaving? - and I will if I can get a moment soon.
All I wanted to say right now, though, was how I miss not being able to read a column about all this from Molly Ivins. She would have had a fine take on the thing. She was a great political writer, a joy to read, a Texan from tip to toe, and she died on the last day of this January last.
So Rove may be out, but it's Molly I'm missing.
